Afternoon sun slanting in the windows of the Reina Sofia in Madrid
I think I've visited about 50 museums on this trip, and the Reina Sofia is perhaps my very favorite of all of them. It's Madrid's finest modern art collection, and a large share of the permanent collection is organized to function like a documentary illustrating the rise of Spanish modern art. It's an impressive collection and I learned so much there, both about the artistic movement and about Spanish history. If you ever get a chance, check it out, and don't forget to visit the terrace on the third floor--the views are fabulous!
